Line of Fire, filmed, edited, directed, and produced by Cameron Kirkegaard, explores the experiences of elite biathletes and the abuse they endured, blending vérité-style footage with intimate interviews to reveal the physical demands and emotional toll of the sport. Inspired by AP reporting from Martha Bellisle in late 2024 and supported by Safesport data showing women face disproportionate barriers to speaking out, the film uncovers the hidden costs of professional biathlon.
The showing will also serve as a fundraiser for The Army of Survivors, a nonprofit founded by athletes who experienced sexual abuse in sports. They work to prevent abuse through advocacy, education, and survivor support. Following the documentary will be a panel with those who were interviewed in the film, as well as the filmmaker.
